These types of filters are often found in a different hydraulic systems to prevent a breakdown caused by oil impurities. It’s possible to use hydraulic filters to purify water based liquids, too.
Hydraulic filters and oil filters are made in a variety of shapes, sizes, micron ratings, pressure ratings and materials of construction.
- Basically, hydraulic oil filter is a device containing three type of filter media layers, namely metal, paper and micro glass elements..
- Hydraulic oil filter is important because it maintains a system that is contaminants free for smooth machine operation.
- In other words, hydraulic oil filter can extent life of your hydraulic oil.
- As oil passes through the filter, it traps and remove particulate matter. As a result, it prevents ingress of foreign particles that may cause damage to hydraulic system.

Lube oil Filters
- The lube oil filter plays a pivotal role in the engine oil system. This is because it filters all the lube oil circulating through the engine and other moving parts.
- It helps in sweeping away foreign debris, wear material, cooling the engine parts and lubricating of the moving components.
- The lube oil not only protects the bearings from damage, but also acts as a cooling medium.
Correct filtration media selection and element construction is vital in achieving the required lube oil cleanliness and to remove damaging particulates and water. Well maintained lube oil can extend operational life of equipment significantly.

contaminant loading:
This refers to the process where the filter element traps and captures particles in the oil stream to a point where all its pores are completely blocked. As oil/fuel flows through the filter media contaminants are trapped on it over time.
As the filter media continues to load more particulates, the by-pass valve opens to prevent structural failure of the filter element.
